Position Summary: 

This position is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions for Akeela, Inc. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing infrastructure, applications, and development of new technical solutions. This position is a working director’s position.

Responsibilities

Management

Provides leadership, vision, and management to the IT department.

Works with management and staff to assess and respond to IT needs.

Manages the IT Desktop Support position with day-to-day supervision, delegating work assignments and conducting performance evaluations.

Serves on planning and policy-making committees.

Holds departmental meetings to review strategic goals and initiatives.

Serves as primary contact with outside vendors in the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, agreements, Systems Operations and Maintenance when related to the IT department and IT equipment.

Generates budget requirements and needs on an annual basis.

Provides IT departmental updates and data for quarterly and annual Board meetings.

Networking

Plans and implements additions, deletions, and major modifications to the current infrastructure.

Oversee administration and maintenance of the company’s networking infrastructure.

Implements network security measures and maintains firewall rules for secure operations.

Oversee administration of the company’s WAN.

Oversee changes to the company website.

Oversea and manages the company Intranet.

Staff Training

Oversees the administration and maintenance of computer stations and software for company training programs and provides additional support as needed.

Provides training to Akeela staff on an as needed basis as requested by management.

Conference Support

Provides audio and visual hardware support at off-site conferences.

Internal Systems

Oversees troubleshooting, system backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provide expert support when necessary.

Oversees management of a Windows-based Active Directory Domain.

Maintains Internal Systems by applying regular software patches.

Manages IP phone connectivity through external vendors.

Oversee the administration and maintenance of our IT ticketing system.

Asset Management

Build and maintain vendor relationships.

Manages the purchasing of all software, hardware and other IT supplies.

Ensure that company assets are tracked and responsibly maintained.

Initiates and coordinates phone connectivity between facilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience and Education

BA / BS in Information Technology related field, organization management or business.

Education or certifications in Information Technology may be substituted year for year for the required experience.

15 years experience in Information Technology related field with 5 years in a management role.

Expert knowledge of server and windows-based platforms including applications and Operating Systems.

Expert knowledge of secure network protocols and network administration.

Experience managing a Windows Active Directory domain environment.

Experience managing an IT Budget including Purchasing.

Must be able to read, write and speak English.
